Currently Reading - Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

Hey Guys!

So my current read at the moment is the incredible Outlander. It got recommended to me by the amazing Sasha at abookutopia on youtube (check out her videos here : https://www.youtube.com/user/abookutopia ) and oh my god I have fallen completely in love.

The story follows protagonist Clare Randall, a ex army nurse who is going on her second honeymoon to the Scottish highlands with her husband Frank, at the end of world war two. She is walking around the Scottish Highlands and suddenly comes across a circle of small stones. Little does she know, as soon as she places her hand on one she gets transported back to 1743 and enters a world she never knew was possible to enter as a Sassenach, an outlander, in a country torn by war and clan feuds. She takes up residence in a local castle and meets young Scot warrior Jaime Fraser. But she starts falling for him, and she becomes torn between two different men in two completely different times.

Diana Gabladon's writing is so beautiful, she describes places and people so well and the character development in this book is so amazing! The story is face pasted and upbeat, and turns different corners and routes each chapter you read. I love Jaime as a character, he is fearless and courageous on the outside but on the inside he is very caring and very loving towards other people.

If you haven't heard of this book yet I highly suggest you pick it up, it is quite long however and part of a very long series, so if that doesn't sound appealing to you it has been developed into a highly reviewed TV show (called Outlander) which is available on DVD and Amazon Prime, I have watched a few episodes and its so addictive and really hooks you into the story!
